Disney’s new film ‘The Haunted Mansion’ revealed the logo, which will be released in Northern America on March 10 next year. But unfortunately, it was just for the folks physically present at D23 2022.
Inspired by the Disneyland ride of the same name, “a chilling trip through a haunted house with ghosts, ghouls and supernatural frights,” spotlights a man who has moved into the mansion family.
Revealed at the Disney and Pixar Studio Showcase director Justin Simien took the stage to talk about working at Disneyland in his youth, calling it the “best summer job I ever had.” He added that his favorite ride back in the day was Haunted Mansion. As such, the film adaptation will be full of easter eggs from the ride, mixing both humor and a “dark edge.”
The trailer shown onstage had a lot of looks of the mansion, and includes several glimpses of both Danny Devito and Owen Wilson, as well as sneaky cameos from Winona Ryder, Dan Levy and Hasan Minhaj.
The Haunted Mansion is the latest in Disney’s long-running line of theme park movie adaptations, and will follow previous release Jungle Cruise. It will star Owen Wilson, LaKeith Stanfield, and Tiffany Haddish, and will be directed by Justin Simien.
This version of the film seems to be headed for an actual release, unlike Guillermo del Toro’s version that sadly faded away.
