In 1975, Capote published the famous short story “La Côte Basque 1965” in “Esquire” magazine, alluding to the private lives and secrets of many of his female friends, including adultery, murder and other scandals.

After the story was published, all of Capote’s “swans” cut ties with him, and his reputation and social ties were ruined.
