They were both affiliated with a secret assisted abortion organization called “Jane,” which, through pseudonyms, camouflages, and safe houses, provided safe, affordable underground services to women who were then subject to abortion bans.

“The Janes” premiered at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival in the United States and was shortlisted in the main competition section of the American Documentary.
