Orlando Bloom joins the film of the same name based on the well-known racing game ‘Gran Turismo’ as a marketing executive promoting motorsports.
Starring Archie Madekwe (‘Midsommar’) and David Harbour, and directed by Neill Blomkamp (‘District 9”Elysium”Chappie’).
Jason Hall (‘American Sniper’) and Zach Baylin (‘King Richard’) wrote the script, and shooting begins next week in Europe. It opens in Northern America on August 11 next year and is co-produced by Sony and PlayStation Productions.
Based on a true story, it tells the ultimate wish-fulfillment story of a ‘Grand Tourism’ teenage gamer whose superb gaming skills won him a series of Nissan races and eventually became a true professional racing driver.
Madekwe is playing the teen, with Harbour on board as the retired driver who teaches him to drive.
Bloom will play a hungry marketing exec who is selling the sport of motor racing … and just may believe in its art, too.
Shooting begins next week in Europe.Sony has slotted an Aug. 11, 2023, theatrical release for the picture.
Bloom is coming off shooting the A24 comedy Wizards alongside Pete Davidson and Naomi Scott, and he has indie thriller Red Right Hand, with Andie MacDowell and Garret Dillahunt, in post.
