The film “Plan 75” will represent Japan in the competition for the Best International Film Award at the 95th Academy Awards in 2023. The film is directed by Chie Hayakawa and stars Chieko Baishô, Hayato Isomura and YUUMI KAWAI.
The film focuses on the future of the Japanese government’s “75 Plan”, a logistical and financial follow-up service for the elderly that will help them to end their lives, in response to the aging population.
Michi, one of the program’s candidates, Hiromu, a government recruiter, and Maria, a young Filipino female caregiver, had to face a fatal contract together.
‘Plan 75’ was awarded a special honorary prize at the 75th Cannes Film Festival with the Golden Camera Award.
