Three new films were released on the US market last week, but they all lost to the action comedy “Free Guy” starring Ryan Reynolds.
The film won consecutive titles for $18.8 million.
The new simultaneous streaming film “Paw Patrol: The Movie” is worth 13 million U.S. dollars.
The science fiction film “Reminiscence” starring Hugh Jackman, Rebecca Ferguson and Daniel Wu failed miserably, ranking ninth with a score of $2 million.
“Free Guy” released by 20th Century Pictures exceeded expectations with an opening score of $28.1 million. The 34% drop in the next week was also within control.
The US is currently fighting against the epidemic. Compared with the 70% drop of “The Suicide Squad“, this figure is already very good.
“Free Guy” currently has a cumulative total of US$58.8 million in US and a global cumulative total of US$111 million. It will be released in the Chinese mainland market this weekend.
Unlike other blockbuster films owned by Disney, “Free Guy” is exclusively released in theaters, and the ability to get more than expected box office has a certain relationship with this strategy.
“Paw Patrol: The Movie” is adapted from the TV anime series of the same name. The film was simultaneously launched on Paramount+, and the $13 million drawing result also exceeded Paramount’s expectations.
The film has been released simultaneously in multiple markets outside the US, with a global total of 34.5 million U.S. dollars, which is expected to be introduced to mainland China.
In terms of new films, “The Protégé” starring Maggie Q ranked seventh for $2.9 million.
The worst is that “Reminiscence” starring Hugh Jackman, Rebecca Ferguson and Daniel Wu ranked ninth for $2 million.
This should be the worst performing movie among Warner’s simultaneous streaming media releases this year.
“Jungle Cruise” ranked third with US$6.2 million, US$92.5 million and US$173 million worldwide.
“Don’t Breathe 2” ranked fourth, with a total of US$1,67 million in US and US$27.2 million in global total.
