Ann Dowd (‘The Handmaid’s Tale’) joins the new ‘The Exorcist’ movie, with original star Ellen Burstyn returning as Chris MacNeil, the demon-possessed mother of a child, and Leslie Odom Jr. newly joining as the demon-possessed father of a child seeking Chris’ help .
The new ‘The Exorcist’ is directed by David Gordon Green (“Halloween”) and produced by Blumhouse’s Jason Bloom.
Last year Universal and streamer Peacock picked up the worldwide rights to the new ‘The Exorcist’ film series for $400 million, which will create three new films that will be a continuation of the 1973 original rather than a reboot, the first of which opens in Northern America on October 13, 2023.
