‘The Witcher: Blood Origin‎’ , a prequel to Netflix’s live-action adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski’s fantasy novel series, will debut on December 25th, the streamer announced today during its Tudum event.

Set thousands of years before the story of Geralt and Ciri, Blood Origin will center on the Conjunction of the Spheres, the moment in the Witcher universe where humans, elves and monsters all come to inhabit the fantasy world of the series.

Focusing on the elven world and civilization 1200 years before the events of ‘The Witcher’, Bloodborne will explore the origins of the first witcher, and what events led to the famous cataclysm ‘the meeting of the worlds’: humans, monsters, elves The worlds come together as one, a great deal of knowledge is permanently lost, and history is rewritten.

And a mission to retrieve the lost holy sword of the tribe fell on Scían’s shoulders, and she embarked on a desperate journey that would change the future of the continent.

Declan De Barra, one of the writers of ‘The Witcher’, serves as executive producer, and ‘The Witcher’ executive Lauren Schmidt Hissrich serves as executive producer.

‘The Witcher: Blood Origin‎’ is set to hit Netflix on December 25. Originally slated to run six episodes, it will instead be four episodes long.
