The story of this film focuses on a “revenge war” between the Vikings in Iceland in the 10th century.

"The Northman": Robert Eggers' latest masterpiece postponed, it tells the Viking epic

“The Northman” describes the Nordic prince, played by Alexander Skarsgård, embarking on a journey of revenge for his murdered father.

The lineup of the film is surprisingly strong, in addition to Alexander Skarsgård, there are also Nicole Kidman, Willem Dafoe, Ethan Hawke, Anya Taylor-Joy and so on.

It can be seen that most of the leading actors and director Robert Eggers have previously collaborated.

It is reported that Alexander Skarsgård took the initiative to ask Robert Eggers to explain the creative story of “The Northman”, and then successfully established the project.

The script of “The Northman” will be co-written by Eggers and Icelandic poet and novelist Sjón.

In “The Witch” and “The Lighthouse”, Eggers will do some preliminary work alone.

But for such a large-scale movie, this is simply impossible.

“The scale is too big, there are too many shooting locations and things, I can’t do everything myself, nor can I understand every prop. This is the challenge of this new movie.”

He said, “We are designing all these worlds, building villages, making thousands of costumes and props, training horses, designing movie shots, and many storyboards.”
