After Dwayne Johnson announced that Black Adam would not be the first chapter of the DC Universe festival, more insider information about the film was revealed by the media.’ The Hollywood Reporter’ latest report says the film will not be profitable for Warner even under the best of circumstances due to the spike in the make-up budget to $260 million.

Prior to this, the media rumored that Dwayne Johnson and Warner were at odds because ‘Black Adam’ failed at the box office and Dwayne Johnson’s team fabricated “false” box office results to “force the issue” with Warner “to shoot the sequel.

This statement is said to have been leaked by Johnson’s team

Warner’s internal staff also complained: Johnson’s team even revealed the box office statement, which is a trade secret, to Deadline, making Warner executives quite unhappy.

‘The Hollywood Reporter’ noted that Warner’s approved budget for ‘Black Adam’ was $190 million, but 20 days of make-up shooting and post spent an additional $70 million, sending the total budget soaring to $260 million, making it one of DC’s most expensive films.

The media also said that the reason why Warner approved the appearance of Henry Cavill’s Superman in the end credits egg is to make the film look less like a bad movie, the film in the first phase of test screenings of the feedback is too bad.

According to earlier Deadline’s analysis based on box office statements, the film may make a profit of $52 million to $72 million.

But counting the increased make-up budget, ‘Black Adam’ made a profit of at best $7 million on the theatrical end, and at worst a loss of $13 million. (The film grossed $391 million at the worldwide box office)

The media believes that such a number will not lead to a sequel, so even if James Gunn did not become the CEO of DC Studios, Warner would only approve a sequel to ‘Black Adam’ if he was mad (sic).

Before the release of the ‘Black Adam’ movie, Dwayne Johnson had said that he planned to develop his role in the DC universe, centering on characters such as the Justice Society of America, as well as hinting that there would be a future movie with Black Adam facing off against Superman.
