“The Last of Us” released new stills, Joel and Ellie lurking in the dark

New stills from the live-action HBO series of the same name based on the acclaimed game “The Last of Us” were released, with obscure scenes of the live-action Joel and Ellie crouched behind museum shelves, reminiscent of scenes from the game.

Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson, the actors who voiced and motion-captured the two main characters in the original game, recently attended the Summer Games Festival, where they joined the game director of “The Last of Us” on stage and revealed that they will also appear in the series, although they could not tell you exactly what the characters are yet.

The show stars “Game of Thrones” duo Pedro Pascal as survivor Joel and Bella Ramsey as 14-year-old orphan Ellie.

There’s also Nico Parker as Joel’s daughter Sarah, Gabriel Luna as Joel’s brother Tommy, and Nick Offerman as Bill, the tough survivalist who helps Joel and Ellie.

Craig Mazin (“Chernobyl”), Caroline Strauss (“Game of Thrones”) and game director Neil Druckmann teamed up to create the film, directed by Kantemir Balagov (“Tall Man”) and others.

The action-adventure game “The Last of Us” was released in 2013, set twenty years after the destruction of modern civilization, players take the role of Joel, a middle-aged man, in order to complete the commission and take a 14-year-old girl Ellie out of the quarantine zone protected by the army, through the jungle of ruins of the metropolis.

Facing the threat of virus-infected mutant humans and other survivor groups, a profound journey that will change their lives.
