“Megalopolis” is a script written by Coppola in the 1980s.

From the setting point of view, it is very grand, but it also has a certain degree of theme similarity to the previous “Synecdoche New York”.

In 2019, Coppola said on the eve of his 80th birthday that he would shoot “Megalopolis” soon.

At the time, Coppola said: “I plan to start doing what I have always wanted to do this year, using everything I have learned since I started working in drama at the age of 16. This will be a grand epic. It is called “Megalopolis.” Unusually, it will have a huge cast, and it will also use the different styles and genres that I have tried for many years in film creation. However, there was no follow-up to the film and it failed to enter the actual shooting stage.

At present, “Megalopolis” is tentatively scheduled to enter theaters at the end of 2022. The tentative cost of the film is between 100 million and 120 million US dollars.
