Celeste O’Connor to join Sony’s new Marvel superhero film ‘Madame Web’


Celeste O’Connor (“Freaky‎””Ghostbusters: Afterlife‎”) joins Sony’s new Marvel superhero film “Madame Web”.


“Madame Web,” starring Dakota Johnson and Sydney Sweeney, is the first female-led superhero movie in Sony’s Marvel Character Universe.

Directed by S.J. Clarkson (“Collateral‎” “The Defenders”) and written by Matt Sazama & Burk Sharpless (“Morbius” “Lost in Space”), the film will be released in Northern America on July 7, 2023.


In the comics, Madame Web is usually Cassandra Webb, an elderly blind woman who suffers from neuromuscular disease, which makes her movement and breathing inconvenient, and needs to be connected to a cobweb-like life support system.

She has precognitive abilities and has helped Spider-Man find kidnapped people.

“Madame Web” will adapt this setting, and she has ties to the “multiverse” and may be an important figure in opening multiple universes.
