Tahar Rahim (“The Serpent” “The Mauritanian”) joined Sony’s new Marvel superhero film “Madame Web” in an undisclosed role.
“Madame Web” is the first female-led superhero movie in Sony’s Marvel Character Universe, starring Dakota Johnson, Sydney Sweeney, Celeste O’Connor, Isabela Merced and more.
Directed by S.J. Clarkson (“Collateral” “The Defenders”) and written by Matt Sazama & Burk Sharpless (“Morbius” “Lost in Space”), the film will be released in Northern America on July 7, 2023.
In the comics, Madame Web is usually Cassandra Webb, an elderly blind woman who suffers from neuromuscular disease, which makes her movement and breathing inconvenient, and needs to be connected to a cobweb-like life support system.
She has precognitive abilities and has helped Spider-Man find kidnapped people.
The movie will adapt this setting. She is connected to the “multiverse” and may also be an important figure in opening multiple universes.
