Buckingham Palace has announced the death of Queen Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor at the age of 96.
Elizabeth Alexandra Mary Windsor reigned for 70 years, making her the longest reigning king of Britain and the longest reigning female head of state in history.
After that, her eldest son, Charles, 73, will succeed the British king.
