Producer Janet Yang voted as new president of Oscar organizers

Producer Janet Yang was voted in as the new president of The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the organizers of the Oscars, the first person of Chinese descent, the second non-white, and the fourth woman to hold the position.

Janet Yang, 66, who joined the Academy as a producer in 2002, is considered the “godmother of Asian American filmmakers in Hollywood” and has introduced Chinese films to Hollywood.
