Recently, Bill Kramer, director and chairman of the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, was interviewed by the media and said that the Academy has established a crisis team with a full back-up plan to deal with various emergency, unforeseen events that may occur.

The Academy admits it was unprepared for last year’s slapping incident, but this year the Academy is prepared.

“As a result of last year, we will be taking steps for many things that may happen at future Oscars ceremonies. Of course we hope that similar events will not happen and that we will never have to use these, but we already have the framework in place that we can respond to.”

At the 94th Academy Awards in 2022, actor Will Smith walked on stage and slapped comedian Chris Rock during his Best Documentary Award ceremony.

The reason is that Chris Rock flirted with Will Smith’s wife’s baldness and Will Smith defended his wife’s dignity by doing so.

This year’s Academy Awards are scheduled for Sunday, March 12.
