With the start of filming of the musical version of “The Color Purple”, news of the cast selection has gradually come to light. A few days ago, some media reported that the famous musician Jon Batiste will participate in the film. And this will be his first big screen work.

The musical version of “The Color Purple” is based on Alice Walker’s 1982 epistolary novel of the same name.
“The Color Purple” tells the story of African-Americans Celie and Nanti who were separated as children and finally reunited after many years.
The director of the film is Sam Blitz Bazawule, who is widely known as “The Burial Of Kojo”.
Jon Batiste was born into the Baptiste family in New Orleans, USA, and studied at the Juilliard School in New York.
There, he formed the band Stay Human, a group known for their musical virtuosity and signature street performance known as “Love Riot.”
Jon released his studio album WE ARE in March 2021 to huge critical acclaim.
The versatility of the album, which Batiste envisioned as he deals with the turbulent times of 2020, has earned him quite a few accolades.
In 2022, the album won the 64th Grammy Awards for Album of the Year.
According to the plan, the musical version of “The Color Purple” will be released on December 20, 2023.
