The Organizing Committee of the 79th Venice Film Festival announced that French actress Catherine Deneuve was awarded the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement this year.
Deneuve won the Golden Bear Award for Lifetime Achievement at the 48th Berlin Film Festival and the Honorary Golden Palm Award at the 58th Cannes Film Festival. She also became the second actress after Jeanne Moreau to collect the Lifetime Achievement Award from the three major European film festivals.
The Venice Film Festival will be held from August 31 to September 10.
