On Wednesday, Oscar organizers announced that they had opened disciplinary proceedings against Will Smith after investigating the assault on Chris Rock, noting that they had asked Smith to leave the venue after the incident, but Smith refused.

Now, according to TMZ, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences “ly lied in its latest statement about the Will Smith beating,” which was the exact opposite of the sponsor’s statement at the time.

Organizers officials had heated conversations with Smith’s representatives after the incident, according to sources who attended the ceremony and witnessed the event.

But officials were deeply divided, with some wanting him to be deported and some disagreeing. Officials had various discussions at multiple ad breaks, but could not reach a consensus.

Later, during one of the ad breaks, Oscars producer Will Packer and an official personally told Smith “We don’t want you to leave” and asked him to stay and continue the show.

At this time, 35 minutes have passed since the incident, and 5 minutes later, Smith won the best actor. Smith was never actually told to leave the ceremony.

“Variety” also pointed out in the latest report that Smith was never officially asked to leave, another source said Smith was asked to leave through an agent.

Reports from various media outlets diverged on the production of Will Packer’s claims.
