According to media sources, Mads Mikkelsen recently spoke to GQ magazine about his views on the massive backlash surrounding J. K. Rowling and her views on the transgender community.

He called for an “adult dialogue” and mutual respect: “People are taking it lightly, and when you’re questioning someone, you don’t really understand what she’s saying.”

Mads Mikkelsen called the reaction to Rowling’s views “crazy” and again urged caution, hoping those who criticise Rowling should understand what they’re talking about.

“If the reaction is so crazy, we have to be very careful about what we’re talking about.”

He also said he hadn’t read Rowling’s tweets about the incident: “I have a habit of not commenting on things I don’t know, and I think it’s better for the world.”

He added: “We shouldn’t have hate speech about trans people, but we have to be honest, and in my opinion, when you turn science into ideology and politics into science, it’s not honest, I think It’s muddling which side you’re on, and there’s rarely a good outcome.”

Mikkelsen doesn’t appear to be concerned about Rowling and her current reputation.
