The premiere of “Last Night in Soho” and “Antlers” failed,Horror movies are no longer popular on Halloween?

Last weekend, “Dune” won $15.5 million and won the North American box office champion again.

At the same time, two horror films were released for the first time-Edgar Wright’s “Last Night in Soho” and Guillermo del Toro’s “Antlers”.

Although both films were released during Halloween week, their box office disappointingly fell out of the top five.

The total box office of “Dune” in North America reached 69.4 million U.S. dollars, the total overseas box office was 227 million U.S. dollars, and the global gross box office was 296 million U.S. dollars.

“Dune”‘s box office dominance in North America will end this week, because the latest Marvel movie “Eternals” will be released on Friday.

Although the evaluation of “Eternals” is average, it is expected that its domestic box office will reach 70 million US dollars.

In second place is “Halloween Kills” with revenue of $8.5 million, a year-on-year decrease of 41.2%.

Three weeks after its release, “Halloween Kills” earned 85.6 million US dollars at the box office in North America.

The film’s overseas box office was only 29.5 million U.S. dollars, and the global total box office reached 115 million U.S. dollars.

Considering that “Halloween Kills” can also be watched on streaming platforms, this box office result is pretty good.

“007: No Time to Die” ranked third, with a box office of $7.8 million in the fourth week of its release.

The film’s North American box office totaled 133 million U.S. dollars and overseas cumulative total of 472 million U.S. dollars. Its global gross box office was nearly 606 million U.S. dollars.

“007: No Time to Die” is the second Hollywood movie with a global box office of over 600 million US dollars this year (the first is “Fast and Furious 9”).

However, what is more noticeable is the dismal premiere of “007: No Time to Die” in China.

China was originally the most profitable market for 007, but due to the surge in new coronary pneumonia cases, 13% of domestic theaters were closed.

“007: No Time to Die” China’s box office revenue was US$27.8 million, which was lower than expected.

The fourth place is last week’s box office dark horse “Boku no Hero Academia: World Heroes Mission”, its premiere box office of 6.4 million US dollars.

To date, the global box office revenue of this Japanese animation film is 35.8 million U.S. dollars.

“Venom 2” ranked fifth with 5.75 million U.S. dollars, with a cumulative total of 190 million U.S. dollars in North America and 396 million U.S. dollars globally.

“Venom 2” is about to become the eighth film to break the 400 million mark this year.

Following the top five are the two horror films “Last Night in Soho” and “Antlers” that were released last week.

The two films tied for sixth, with a box office of 4.16 million US dollars.

Related Post: “Last Night in Soho” will be released, Edgar Wright pays tribute to the 1960s.

The freshness of “Last Night in Soho” Rotten Tomatoes is 74%, and the performance is fair. But it cannot be compared with Edgar Wright’s last work “Baby Driver”.
