Netflix’s “The Witcher Season 3” script has been completed, it plans to shoot a total of seven seasons

Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, producer of the Netflix live-action series “The Witcher”, accepted an interview with British media TechRadar. He said that the script for “The Witcher Season 3” is almost complete.

“We basically finished writing the script, which is great,” Hissrich said.

“I am very excited about the progress of this season because it is based on my favorite novel “The Time of Contempt”.”

“The Time of Contempt” is the wizard’s second novel, before “Blood of Elves” and two collections of short stories.

These two collections of novels are the material for the first two seasons of the show.

“I think the first and second seasons have laid the foundation for everything that is about to happen,” Hissrich told British media TechRadar.

“But the creative process has just begun. We already have the script, and now we will invite directors and actors, and really start to study and reflect in depth to ensure that this is the perfect season.”

The first season of “The Witcher” premiered on Netflix in December 2019.

Filming of the second season started in early 2020, but was suspended in March when the epidemic became severe, and did not resume until August 2020.

A few months later, a new crown pneumonia broke out on the set, which caused the filming to be postponed again. The injury of the lead actor Henry Cavill also affected the filming speed.

It was finalized in April this year, and the second season of “The Witcher” is finally coming seven months later.

If the third season starts filming in early 2022, and there is no delay, it may air sooner on Netflix than the second season.

This is just a guess at the moment, but the prequel “The Witcher: Blood Origin” is scheduled to be released in 2022.

So Netflix is likely to postpone the third season to 2023.

Again, Hissrich has a seven-season plan for The Witcher.

Cavill also said that if Netflix continues to renew the show, he will definitely want to play Geralt for seven seasons.

Based on the current cycle, it is assumed that the seventh season will start shooting in 2030 and will be released in 2031.

In this case, there is a gap of 12 years between the first season and the seventh season (that is, the final season) of “The Witcher”.
