Italy announced the selection of the new film “The Hand Of God” directed by Paolo Sorrentino to compete for the “Best International Film” at this year’s Oscar.
Sorrentino returns to his hometown to tell his most personal story to date.
“The Hand Of God” is set in the turbulent Naples of the 1980s, and the protagonist is a teenager named Fabietto Schisa.
The plot of the film is full of unexpected joyful scenes, like the arrival of football legend Diego Armando Maradona, but it also includes a sudden tragedy.

“The Hand Of God” has premiered at the Venice Film Festival, and the young male protagonist Filippo Scotti won the best newcomer in Venice.
“The Hand Of God” will also go live on Netflix on December 15.
