‘Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers’ actor Jason Geiger has been charged with fraud, and he could face 20 years in prison

“Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers” actor Jason Geiger has been charged with participating in a scheme to defraud the U.S. government of CARES Act funding, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

The Justice Department named Michael Hill and Andrew Moran as leaders of the scam, which involved about $3.5 million.

Court documents say Jason Geiger, one of them, transferred to them more than $400,000 in fraudulent PPP loans and could therefore face up to 20 years in prison.

Facing the charges, Jason’s attorney, David Klaudt, responded.

“Receipt of an indictment is not a conviction, all defendants are presumed innocent and Mr. Jason intends to defend himself against this charge.”

Part of the CARES Act, which former U.S. President Trump signed into law in March 2020, created a $669 billion small business loan program, known as the Paycheck Protection Program, to help businesses struggling to pay workers during the pandemic overcome obstacles.

Since the program’s inception, the Justice Department has prosecuted related scams that total hundreds of millions of dollars.
