Emma Stone, Willem Dafoe, Mark Ruffalo, Ramy Youssef, Christopher Abbott, Margaret Qualley, Suzy Bemba and others star in the film, with Tony McNamara (‘The Favourite ‘) wrote the script and is expected to premiere at the Cannes International Film Festival.

Based on the novel of the same name by Scottish author Alasdair Gray, ‘Poor Things’ combines realism, fantasy and science fiction elements to recreate Frankenstein’s story.

Set in the late Victorian era, Belle Baxter (Emma Stone) is an erratic, oversexed, uninhibited woman and a female science geek.

She drowns to escape her abusive husband, the eccentric, brilliant scientist Dr. Godwin Baxter (Willem Dafoe), and resurrects her unborn child’s brain by replacing it with her own.
