“Squid Games” confirms the second season: the main character returns, the game world has just begun!

Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos confirmed that his hit drama “Squid Game” will have a second season, and said: “The ‘Squid’ universe has just begun.”

He confirmed what the show’s producer Hwang Dong Hyeuk had said in a previous interview that there would be more in the second season of “Squid Game”.

Sarandos also said that he thinks one of the reasons for the success of the show is: “Instead of making the show ‘different’ in order for it to spread around the world, the local Korean team (of Netflix) went to find The characteristics of Korean movies and Korean dramas, building them in new ways and production value levels, not saying ‘content that we taught Koreans to do well in the past’. There is a big market for such content, and the world has always been curious, The Korean drama market has had a lot of global success, but we made it easy to spread and pushed it into the mainstream.”

According to Variety, Sarandos made the following remarks when asked about the show’s future during Netflix’s Q4 2021 earnings interview.

“Certainly,” Sarandos said, “the world of squid games is just beginning.”

Hwang Dong Hyeuk has previously confirmed that “Squid Game” will return and said that negotiations for a third season are underway. He also said that the main character Seong Gi-hun will be returning.

“I promise you, Seong Gi-hun will come back,” he said. “He will do something for the world.”

“Squid Game” is produced by Netflix and directed by Hwang Dong Hyeuk and starring Jung-jae Lee Hae-soo Park, Hae-soo Park, Ha-joon Wi, etc.

The drama, which was launched on Netflix on September 17, 2021, tells the story of hundreds of people who are trapped in their lives and participate in 6 survival games for 45.6 billion won in prize money.
