Some interesting numbers from the 2022 Oscar nominations

The 94th Academy Awards announced the nominations last night. Streaming media leader Netflix became the biggest winner. The media also summarized some other interesting numbers:

Drive My Car is the first Japanese film to be nominated for the Best Picture Oscar.

“Belfaste” director Kenneth Branagh has been nominated for seven Oscars so far in seven different categories: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Actor, Best Actor Supporting Actor and Best Live Action Short.

Seven of the 10 Best Picture nominations were released by traditional studios, two were from Netflix and one was an international film, Drive My Car.

“The Power of the Dog” director Jane Campion is the first woman to be nominated twice for best director.

“The Power of the Dog” photographer Ari Wegner is the second woman to be nominated for best photography.

Flee is the first work to be nominated for Best International Picture, Best Animated Feature and Best Documentary Feature at the same time.

CODA supporting actor Troy Kotsur is the second deaf actor nominated for an Oscar.
