Scarlett Johansson and Disney reached a settlement! The total value of the agreement may exceed US$40 million

According to the “Hollywood Reporter”, Scarlett Johansson and Disney reached an out-of-court settlement. The specific details have not been disclosed yet.

Both Scarlett Johansson and Disney Pictures Chairman Alan Bergman said they are very happy to reach an agreement and look forward to future cooperation.

Scarlett Johansson said, “I am very happy that our differences with Disney have been resolved. I am proud of the work we have done together over the years and look forward to our cooperation in the next few years.”

“Scarlett Johansson and I reached a consensus on “Black Widow” and I am very happy. We are grateful for her contribution to the MCU, and we hope to continue our cooperation on a series of new projects in the future, including Disney’s “Terror of Tower”.”

According to people familiar with the matter, the transaction involved more than 40 million US dollars, and Disney will not pay it all at once.

Scarlett Johansson filed a lawsuit against Disney on July 19 this year.

Scarlett Johansson accused Disney of breaching the contract by distributing her movie “Black Widow” in theaters and streaming media Disney+ at the same time.

Disney has promised that the movie will be shown in “theatrical lines”, which generally means exclusive release in theaters.

Scarlett Johansson’s remuneration mainly comes from the movie’s box office dividends, and Disney’s move is estimated to cost her $50 million.

“Black Widow” was originally scheduled to be released worldwide on May 1, 2020.

Later, “Black Widow” was delayed to July 9 this year due to the epidemic, and it landed simultaneously on the North American theaters and Disney+ (members also need to pay an additional $30).

“Black Widow” opened paintings for more than 80 million US dollars in the first weekend, which is not bad for the North American market after the epidemic.

But compared with the previous Marvel standard, it can be said to be nothing (“Avengers 4” North America opened drawing more than 350 million US dollars).

Disney revealed in August this year that “Black Widow” made $125 million on streaming platforms.

As of press time, the film’s global box office has reached 378 million U.S. dollars.
