Pixar animated films missed the big screen continuously, staff: it hurts both money and feelings

Following “Soul” and “Luca”, Disney announced last weekend that “Turning Red”, also produced by Pixar, will be launched directly on the Disney+ streaming platform on March 11th. Subscribers do not need to pay any additional fees.

This decision made Pixar employees feel that it hurts money and feelings, and many people want to leave their jobs to other companies that can make animated films on the big screen.

Last summer, American media people broke the news that the decision to launch two consecutive films on Disney+ without additional payment made the morale of Pixar employees very low.

Related Post: Disney announced that “Turning Red” will go straight to streaming, this is the third time Pixar Animation has been arranged.

After the announcement of the “Turning Red” streaming media decision, netizens nicknamed EmpireCityBO broke the news on social media. Many Pixar staff have experienced the experience of a series of works recently produced by the studio (“Soul” and “Luca”) Expressed displeasure.

“We have devoted countless hours to these films over the years. When we make these works, we will look forward to the audience sitting in the cinema watching the scenes of these works. It is quite shocking to know that this expectation is destroyed, and they deceived us.” A Pixar staff member said.

Some employees said: “After’Soul’ and’Luca’ were directly uploaded to the streaming media, they told us that this kind of thing would never happen again.’Turning Red’ will be on the big screen, but they still deny it at the last minute. It’s a betrayal. Many people in the studio want to leave Disney to create their own works.”

It takes 3-5 years to produce an animated cartoon that misses the big screen, but it hurts feelings, but the upper stream media will lose the theater box office dividends, and the salary of employees will also be affected.

Last summer, Scarlett Johansson nearly went to court for streaming media and Disney on “Black Widow”, and she was eventually compensated.

But for the animators behind the scenes, their works are directly streamed, and it is very difficult to compensate with Disney.

According to media analysis, Disney made such a decision for complicated reasons: On the one hand, due to the low rate of children’s new crown vaccination, the box office of family carnival movies, especially cartoons, has been greatly affected.

The epidemic in North America has become severe again, and children’s willingness to go to theaters to watch animated movies has once again been reduced.

In addition, the Disney streaming platform needs blockbuster new films to attract subscribers.

Among the several Disney studios, Marvel’s big screen works are the most attracting money and will not easily go straight to streaming media. It focuses on dramas.

Lucasfilm also contributed series such as “The Mandalorian”, “The Book of Boba Fett‎”, and “Obi-Wan Kenobi”.

Disney’s animated film is the company’s billboard and can’t move. Under the trade-off, it can only be “started” with Pixar Studios.
