“Moon Knight”: Did you find all these Easter eggs in the first episode?

The Marvel American drama “Moon Knight” has received a good response after its launch. Among the American drama series of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that have been broadcast so far, I personally feel that “Moon Knight” can be ranked in the top three.

Today, instead of commenting on the episodes, I’d like to talk with you about the details and easter eggs in the first episode of “Moon Knight”.

Was it really called the wrong name?

In the first episode of “Moon Knight”, the protagonist Steven Grant was called the wrong name several times by his colleagues. Is it really because he is so insignificant that his colleagues can’t remember his name?

If you’ve read the original book, you’ll know that the protagonist of “Moon Knight” has multiple personalities. The main character is Marc Spector, who basically didn’t show up in the first episode, but he doesn’t have only two personalities.

Therefore, Stevie and Scotty are likely to be the other two unseen personalities of Steven Grant.

Did you see Atlantis?

The copyright of Namor has long been returned to Marvel Studios, but so far it has only appeared in the form of Easter eggs in the “Iron Man” and “The Avengers” series of movies.

It also appears in “Moon Knight”: in the scene where Arthur misses the bus, the building in the distance clearly appears – Atlantis, so is it possible for Namor to appear?

The name Donna

I have always called Steven Stevie, treated Steven bossy, and I just let people work overtime. Presumably the role of Donna will not be liked by the audience, right?

But the character’s name is a nod to the original comic. In the original book, Marc Spector has a subordinate named Donna Kraft. In the American TV series, the identities of the two are obviously reversed.

The little golden man also has a prototype

Judging from the rhythm of “Moon Knight”, there will be no useless scenes in the series, so this little golden man who performed “living statues” on the street actually appeared in the original work.

Although the guy didn’t speak the whole time, we heard Steven refer to him as Crawley in the episode. Coincidentally, in the original Marc Spector had an informant named Bertrand Crawley, a street wanderer.

Easter eggs on the phone screen

Steven found Marc’s phone hidden in the wall, and when he opened it to check, he could see a “Duchamp” hidden in the middle of a long list of “Layla” missed calls.

This Duchamp is an important character in the “Moon Knight” series of comics, but there has been no news of a related character since the series was filmed.

So he probably won’t appear in the episode, just as an easter egg here.

What exactly is Ammit?

In the series, the villain Arthur Harrow has a scale on his wrist that evaluates a person’s life (both past and future).

If the scales are tilted and turn red, the person is a bad person (or is about to become bad), and the person’s life will be taken away.

Arthur Harrow and his followers have been “praising Ammit”, so what is the status of this Ammit in Egyptian mythology?

Ammit is responsible for the execution of a specific sentence, not a matter.

In ancient Egyptian mythology, the soul of a deceased person came to the Egyptian hell Duat to be judged first, and the heart of the deceased and a feather were placed on both ends of the scale.

If a person does something bad, the heart will be heavier than a feather, and the person will be fed to Ammit, and the person eaten by Ammit will not be able to enter the Egyptian “paradise” Yalu.

Therefore, Ammit is only responsible for “eating bad people” in Egyptian mythology.

Like most Egyptian gods, Ammit doesn’t like to be long. He is made up of a crocodile head, a lion’s upper body and a hippo’s lower body.

But Ammit is not a god, and in Egyptian mythology, Ammit only belongs to grassroots employees.

Who are the Egyptian nine-pillared gods referring to?

“Moon Knight” is different from the previous Marvel Cinematic Universe series of film and television works, this American drama brings ancient Egyptian gods to the work.

If you have watched the show, you must know that Moon Knight is the agent of the ancient Egyptian moon god Khonsu, and the villain Arthur Harrow believes in Ammit, so who are the nine-pillar gods mentioned in the play?

The most widely circulated versions of the Nine Pillars are:

Ra, the sun god, the supreme god of ancient Egyptian mythology;

Shu, the son of Ra, the wind god;

Tefnut, daughter of Ra, wife of Shu, god of rain;

Geb, son of Shu, god of the earth;

Nut, daughter of Shu, wife of Geb, god of the sky;

Osiris, the eldest son of Geb, the god of the underworld, and the god of agriculture;

Isis, daughter of Geb, wife of Osiris, patron saint of the dead, and god of fertility;

Seth, the second son of Geb, god of war, deserts, storms and foreign nations;

Nephthys, daughter of Geb, wife of Seth, patron saint of the dead.

We can see that the “Horus” in Steven’s mouth does not appear in this list. This is not to say that Steven is wrong, but because of the long history and the changes of the dynasty, in one of the historical periods “Ra” and “Horus” have been merged together.

In addition, there is a small detail in this episode that most people probably haven’t seen: the sign about the Nine Pillars that Steven picked up not only lacks two gods, but also includes an ancient god who does not belong to the Nine Pillars. The Egyptian gods were placed in it, and that was Hathor.

Hathor can be regarded as the ancient Egyptian version of Venus, the goddess of love and beauty, and she is also Horus’s wife, but not one of the nine pillars.

Similarly, Anubis, who we are more familiar with, and Khonsu, the moon god mentioned above, are not nine-pillared gods.

If you compare the ancient Egyptian gods to a business, then Ra is the founder and president of the family business, and the remaining eight of the Nine Pillars are executives. Anubis and Khonsu belong to middle-level cadres, while Ammit is a grassroots employee.
