“Pokémon the Movie: Coco”: New theatrical version and a new peak!

“Pokémon the Movie: Coco”: New theatrical version and a new peak! I can even say that it is the best one in recent years.

Recently, the theater version “Pokémon the Movie: Coco” (theatrical version ポケットモンスター ココ) was released in China.

However, this movie was actually released in Japan as early as last year, so many friends should have watched it.

For the “Pokémon” movie, it really has gone through too many years.

So that the theater version that came out later showed a set of fixed forms.

And this time “Pokémon the Movie: Coco”, I dare to say that it shows its own wonderfulness in a brand-new form.

How to handle a work with a big IP is very difficult:

In fact, in recent years, “Pokémon” movies have been trying to find new breakthroughs in style.

Because the official realized that if the pattern of “Pokémon” films of the past is repeated, the word of mouth will definitely get lower and lower.

So the official swiped a big pen and decided to let Ash Ketchum leave the TV series and start telling some other stories in the theater version.

Therefore, in 2017 “Pokémon the Movie: I Choose You!” (theatrical version of ポケットモンスター キミにきめた!) showed us a completely different style and world line.

This was a relatively big decision made by the government at the time.

Facts have proved that if Ash Ketchum can completely break away from the TV story, it will not be difficult to spread interesting content in the theater version.

In terms of plot setting, “Pokémon” is also quite difficult.

Because it is an animation for all ages, so in terms of plot, it is necessary to make the new generation of children happy to watch, but also to keep old friends who like “Pokémon” from getting tired.

Throughout the history of Pokémon’s movies, most of them are difficult to balance these two points at the same time.

Especially when the “Pokémon” movie is mere formality, many movies can guess the end after reading the beginning, which is not what the movie should be.

Finally, in the theater version of “Pokémon the Movie: Coco”, I saw the essence of the original “Pokémon” movie.

Pokémon’s story is simple, but it’s difficult to tell it clearly:

Regarding the core content of “Pokémon”, the emphasis has always been on the harmony between humans and Pokémon.

This time, the film focused on a boy named Coco who was adopted by Zarude.

This boy symbolizes the bridge between Pokémon and humans, and also symbolizes what Pokémon has always wanted to emphasize-man and nature.

Although the plot is simple, it is actually not easy to be able to grasp this thing from beginning to end.

On this basis, it is even more integrated with the “father and son” feelings with Zarude.

The story of the film is not procrastinated, it is straightforward and clear.

Its emotional line is not embarrassing, and it can even make people cry.

This is what fans should have in the “Pokémon” movie that hasn’t been seen for a long time.

“Pokémon” seems to be an ideal utopia for children, but in fact the worldview spreads out very large.

The previous “Theatrical Edition” paid too much attention to these things, which is not good.

Because the duration of a movie is limited.

For example, “Pokémon the Movie: Hoopa and the Clash of Ages” (ポケモン・ザ・ムービーXY: 光轮(リング)の超魔神 フーパ) is this movie exciting?

How can the selling points of the many sacred beasts appearing in the fight not to be exciting.

But after watching it, we can’t even figure out where the core of this movie is.

In other words, I don’t know what the movie wants to express, it just makes the audience enjoy it.

In “Pokémon the Movie: Coco”, there weren’t any large numbers of mythical beasts in the process.

It connects the focus directly to Coco and the jungle that nurtures him, focusing on only telling a story, which is good.

However, the movie “Pokémon the Movie: Coco” still has some complaints.

Because our protagonist Ash Ketchum really has the feeling of a very marginal supporting role in this theatrical version.

Well, I look forward to the future theater version, which will incidentally focus the story on Ash Ketchum while clearly clarifying the core.

Pokémon fans will probably like it even more.
