Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford star in the ‘Yellowstone’ prequel series ‘1923’ set to open on Paramount+ on December 18.

Still created by Taylor Sheridan, the series will introduce a new generation of Dutton family members and explore the mountainous West plagued by epidemics, historic droughts, Prohibition, lawlessness and economic depression in the early 20th century, with a timeline covering the end of World War I (1918) and the beginning of Prohibition (1920).

Ford plays Jacob Dutton, the patriarch and head of the Yellowstone Ranch, brother of James Dutton (Tim McGraw), and Mirren plays Jacob’s wife Cara.

Brandon Sklenar (‘Westworld’), Sebastian Roché (‘Criminal Minds’), Darren Mann (‘Animal Kingdom’), James Badge Dale, Marley Shelton (‘Rampage ‘), Brian Geraghty (‘Chicago P.D.’)\, Julia Schlaepfer (‘The Politician’) and others also star.
