Anthony Hopkins and Matthew Goode will star in the new film ‘Freud’s Last Session’, which was picked up by Sony Classics for distribution in Northern America, the Middle East, India and many other territories, and announced to start shooting at the end of January next year.

Written by Mark St. Germain and adapted from his play of the same name, Hopkins plays Sigmund Freud, an Austrian psychiatrist, psychologist and founder of the psychoanalytic school who, on the eve of World War II, is nearing the end of his life and invites Clive Staples Lewis (Goode), a famous British writer, to come over and to debate the existence of God.

The film will explore Freud’s unique relationship with his gay daughter, Anna, and the unconventional love between Lewis and his best friend’s mother.

Hopkins played Lewis in the 1993 biopic ‘Shadowlands’.
