Following the surprise of “The Bad Guys” in the first half of this year, DreamWorks’ new animation “Puss in Boots: The Last Wish” has a good pre-screening reputation: 94% freshness on Rotten Tomatoes (18 reviews), popcorn index 98%, MTC 71 points, IMDb 8.3 points.
Some excerpts from the review:
‘Puss in Boots: The Last Wish’ pre-screening word of mouth:
‘IndieWire’ (100 points): ‘Puss in Boots: The Last Wish’ unquestionably meets the expectations of a young audience while telling a liberating story about the nine lives we already have.
‘The Hollywood Reporter’ (80 points): The tone is darker than its predecessor, but the fun is not lost. Like other animated movies, those crazy action shots seem designed for the short attention span of children.
‘Variety’ (80 points): The story forces Puss in Boots to take care of his own priorities, and this sequel not only justifies its existence, but also paves the way for it to meet the big green guy (Shrek).
‘The Wrap’ (50 points): Not an exciting adventure, as he is dying from a terminal illness while performing a fairytale miracle cure. While the movie is entertaining and thrilling by turns, we’re actually watching a hopeless fantasy.
‘Ready Steady Cut’ (80 points): A great “cat” film that presents feline charm from start to finish.
