James McAvoy spoke about his appearance in ‘X-Men’ in a GQ Hype interview and had high praise for the experience, but also dissatisfaction that he felt Professor X’s relationship with Magneto was not fully utilized.
McAvoy denied that being in ‘X-Men’ made him unhappy and negative: “It was one of the most positive experiences I’ve had with a major studio, I didn’t just see it as a money-making gig, ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ is in my opinion one of the better films I’ve ever done. “
But he also has a gripe: “My biggest criticism of running through all four films is that after the first one (‘X-Men: First Class’), there was no proper use of the relationship between (Professor X and Magneto) that built the backbone of the first film. It’s like, ‘How did we eject the giant weapon?'”
And talking about now that Fosse has merged into Disney, the previous ‘X-Men’ movie universe characters will also appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, McAvoy as Professor X will return?
He said he was not torn about whether to return to play Professor X, and would be happy to say “I’ve hung up my boots”, “because people move on”, also revealed that he had not yet received a call from Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige’s phone, of course, “if received I will not tell you”.
